Red Bluff Nov 2010

With the kids off for Thanksgiving, I decided to take them to a very familiar Red Bluff. My nephew Chandler was with us, as were friends Lydia and Emma Deaton. Red Bluff is known as “Mississippi’s Little Grand Canyon”. We have been there many times. Today was overcast and perfect for hiking. We always hike down the side, cross the railroad tracks and follow the creek to the mouth where it spills into the Pearl River. For some reason, Ian (and friends) decide to take a ‘shower’ under the ‘waterfall’ the culvert makes so the creek can pass under the railroad tracks. He always does this! After a break, we head back down the railroad tracks to see the derailled grain train cars. Another break, and we head up the creek toward the bottom of Red Bluff. There must have been a lot of erosion since we last came, there were many more trees that have fallen across the creek. But the water was cool and refreshing. Once at the bottom, the kids all hit the dunes and play for awhile (I save my energy for the climb out). After awhile, we climb out on the center ridge. The sun stayed behind the clouds, and it actually drizzled a little as we climbed out. It was cool and nice, no bugs or anything. The ridge has eroded since we were last there, it is now a nice flat and wide path. In fact, the last edge you have to climb to reach the top has had stairs carved into it! Very easy climb, a great confidence builder, and lots of fun! In the end, we lost 3 shoes (one sandal and a pair of pink crocks) but amazingly none were Ians!

PCS Kindergarten Thanksgiving Program 2010

Emily performed in this years PCS Kindergarten Thanksgiving Program. She chose “Princess Wise Owl” as her Indian name. Make sure to watch in HD Full screen, Emily is right in the middle! Enjoy!

A ‘gummy’ creek

We haven’t been to the creek by the high school in awhile, so we decided to wander down and check things out. You never know what you’ll find down there!

We didn’t see any critters, but definitely noticed how much slimy algae was everywhere. It reminded me of Ghostbusters 2. We haven’t had a good rain in awhile, that usually keeps the creek clear and free flowing.

Naturally, Ian fell in. Not ‘fell in’ as in ‘stepped in’, no he literally sat down in the slime.. Incredi-Mom will not be happy.

The BIG Sale

There has been a HUGE garage-sale going on at the Forrest County Multipurpose Center by Duds for Doodlebugs consignment. We decided to check it out and see if we could get some good deals.

While Incredi-Mom shopped for clothes, Ian found some cool Bionicle gear made of soft foam.

In the end, we spent about two hours shopping and bought a sack full of clothes. The process is very well run, all computerized, and they even bag everything for you.

AWANA Training

Our church is gearing up to start AWANA, so we had to do some training. Other churches joined in.

Here I am simulating bringing in a flag for the opening ceremony that happens at every AWANA meeting.

Eventually we play some games. In this game we have to walk around the game circle while keeping a napkin on our head. Go Incredi-Mom!

Meanwhile, Ian and Emily decide to explore the table forest over on the other side of the room.

Ian ducks under like a snorkler in an underwater cave.

Treasure? No. Mischief? Yes. But, at least they were quiet.

Emily ‘tweets’

The weather has been great lately, so we have been letting the house air out by letting the windows up and enjoying the cool breeze. Emily takes advantage of the moment to whistle with some birds.

Emily the Artist

Emily painted a nice hummingbird ‘stained glass’ window suncatcher. She also painted her shirt…. and her face.

Whats wrong with this picture?

I don’t think Ian has figured out the pull-up bar yet.

Happy Birthday Mr. Keith!

Today is our music minister’s birthday, Mr. Keith Lyons! Some friends from church joined us all for some O’Charlies fellowship.

Unfortunately, O’Charlies wasn’t able to get us a table quickly, so we walked across the parking lot to Chili’s.

Oh, boy.. Here we come! (Not pictured: Ethan and Lillie)
